Remember to always make sure your hands are clean before washing your tattoo and applying any creams.
Remove the cling film 1 hour after your appointment. Wash your new tattoo with warm, mild soapy water (we recommend Carex antibacterial soap), do not scrub it or sponge wash it and then pat your tattoo dry with kitchen roll - never rub!
Clean your tattoo 2-3 times a day with warm, mild soapy water for 7 days.
Wash your tattoo before bed, dry it and re-cover it for the first 2-3 nights in cling film, *do not apply any cream when wrapping it up for bed* be sure to take off the cling film every morning and wash & dry the area.
We recommend using Yayo Aftercare Balm 2 days after receiving your tattoo – we have some available at reception. Apply a very thin layer to the tattooed area and massage into the skin. Don't use too much, a little goes a long way.
Be sure to firstly wash your tattoo and reapply Yayo Aftercare Balm to your tattoo 3 times a day until healed (this usually takes around 7 days).
After 7 days we recommend using a non fragranced moisturising cream like E45 as your skin may become dry and irritated until your tattoo settles.
Do not use any petroleum based products like Vaseline as it can cause contamination and harm to a new tattoo.
Do not soak your tattoo in the bath or go swimming for the first 2 weeks and be sure to keep it out of the sun and avoid using sunbeds or fake tan until it is completely healed.
Never pick or scratch your new tattoo, doing so could lead to patches, scarring and infection. If you think you've had an allergic reaction or if you think your tattoo is infected (swollen, red, warm, puss leakage or itchy rash) please consult your GP ASAP.
